First blog post of the year! I've been shooting a lot lately due to the fact that these transfer applications are due very shortly. This week I had the chance to drive around the Stony Brook area with my friends, hike around, and take some portraits. The first location is Avalon Nature Preserve and the second with the bamboo forest is at a lake we've found a few miles away, still in Stony Brook. I made the first photo black and white because I feel it emphasized the contrast that wasn't as prevalent in the untouched image and added dramatic effect to the photograph. I played around with the colors on the last image to give it a hazy, dream - like effect, as if you imagined this bamboo forest in your sleep. Looking forward to my first semester as an official photography major, and gaining new experience!

The Avalon Preserve is such a cool place!
ReplyDeleteI really like the pictures with the bamboo. What's the name of that place/river?
I think the name is Frank Melville Memorial Park? I'm not quite sure because we kind of just found it. If you know that road at the end of Nichols that connects Stony Brook and Port Jeff and all that, it's off that road.
DeleteYeah, I think I know what you're talking about!
